Programme Overview: Pattern Making Programme (PMP) 2026
Provider: Mr Price Foundation (JumpStart)
Location: Durban, KwaZulu-Natal (Training is Durban-based)
Duration: 6 Months (Intensive)
Format: 2 weeks of classroom theory and 2 weeks of practical workplace experience per month.
Programme Objective
The PMP is designed to bridge the technical skills gap in South Africa’s clothing manufacturing sector. It equips interns with industry-ready skills to transition into professional pattern-making roles within a manufacturing environment.
Minimum Requirements
To be eligible for the 2026 intake, applicants must meet the following:
Citizenship: South African citizen.
Age: 18 – 33 years old.
Employment Status: Currently unemployed.
Criminal Record: Must have a clean criminal record.
Education: * A Diploma or Degree in Clothing Production, Fashion Design, or a related technical qualification.
Final-year students in these fields are also eligible to apply.

The curriculum covers both manual and digital technical skills, including:
Manual pattern making and Garment construction.
Tech packs and Quality assurance.
Fabrics, fibres, and raw materials.
Principles in manufacturing and the "Critical Path."
Trend and range development.
Sustainable practices in pattern making.
