Minimum Requirements

A completed Grade 12 (Matric) certificate with a functional pass.
Currently unemployed South African youth between the ages of 18 and 29 years (strict alignment with YES program mandate parameters).
Has not previously participated in or completed a formal 12-month YES program contract with another employer.
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English (multilingual capability is highly valued across regional customer-facing layouts).
Basic numerical accuracy and computer literacy for interacting with automated retail transaction engines and stock systems.
High physical stamina, energy, and agility to execute inventory tasks, stand for long durations, and manage high-volume store floors.
Exceptional grooming standards, a welcoming demeanor, and a natural affinity for premium customer service, fashion, or food retail.
A completely clear criminal background record history (mandatory background tracking checks apply).
Key Responsibilities & Learning Exposure
YES learners rotate across specialized corporate retail departments (Food, Fashion, Beauty, and Back-of-House Logistics) to master modern commercial workflows:
Welcoming store guests, responding to inquiries, identifying customer requirements, and guiding them precisely to correct floor displays.
Maintaining immaculate visual merchandising layouts—stocking shelves, checking product labels, tracking expiry variables (Food division), and arranging displays according to high-end brand books.
Processing transactions at the electronic point-of-sale (POS) terminal, executing precise cash handling, card tracking, and day-end balancing steps.
Managing inventory pipelines within the stockroom—unpacking bulk distributions, scanning barcodes, running stock verification counts, and reporting discrepancies to mitigate shrinkage.
Observing strict workplace safety codes, shelf-hygiene standards, and waste management parameters in line with the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act.
