Employer: CapaCiTI (The digital skills accelerator division of UVU Africa)
Programme: Structured IT Learnership & Skills Development Placement
Job Type: 12-Month Contract (Blended Tech Boot Camp + On-the-job Corporate Placement)
Stipend: Monthly learner allowance provided throughout the program duration
Primary Hubs: Cape Town (Woodstock) & Johannesburg (Braamfontein)
Closing Date: Open/Staggered 2026 recruitment pools (Apply immediately as tech cohort slots fill rapidly)
Minimum Requirements
To step into the intensive digital skills ecosystem managed by CapaCiTI, candidates must meet the following baseline parameters:
A completed Grade 12 (Matric) certificate with functional passes in Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy and English.
Advantageous: A completed or partially completed tertiary qualification (Higher Certificate, Diploma, or Degree) in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a highly analytical commerce track.
Currently unemployed South African youth between the ages of 18 and 35 years.
Strong computational logic, spatial reasoning, and an analytical approach to solving complex problems.
Clear communication skills in written and spoken English.
Tech Readiness: Basic computer literacy is mandatory; a visible passion for digital systems, coding, data tracking, or technical system design is highly beneficial.
Must not be currently registered for any other formal learnership program or full-time academic studies.
Targeted Learning & Specialized Tech Tracks
The CapaCiTI program model alternates between theoretical system deep-dives and corporate internships, developing core competencies across high-demand tech channels:
Software Development: Learning core programming architectures (such as Java, Python, or Full-Stack JavaScript frameworks), version control tracking (Git), and algorithmic debugging logic.
Data Analytics: Mastering structured database queries (SQL), spreadsheet management variables, data cleaning protocols, and visualization frameworks (PowerBI/Tableau).
Systems Administration & Infrastructure: Navigating operating system parameters (Linux/Windows Server), cloud computing deployment logic (AWS/Azure), and basic network routing configurations.
Business Analysis: Mapping out system requirements, identifying operational workflow bottlenecks, and translating customer user stories into clear technical implementation parameters.
Key Responsibilities during Corporate Placement
Once deployed into active partner corporate host environments, learners take on junior tech responsibilities:
Writing, testing, and debugging clean functional code under the direct guidance of senior software engineers.
Assisting with internal network monitoring, diagnosing basic hardware/software faults, and tracking configuration records.
Capturing, processing, and indexing operational datasets into centralized database architectures while checking for entry accuracy.
Participating in daily team synchronizations, agile sprint review loops, and structural technical design workshops.
Maintaining precise personal learning logs and portfolio-of-evidence (PoE) files required for formal MICT SETA verification checks.
