Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- General Education and Training Certificate (GETC) / Grade 9 / Standard 7
- Appropriate sterilising and disinfection experience in a hospital environment
- Knowledge of CSSD procedures
- Knowledge of disinfection, decontamination, and sterilisation processes
- Ability to use sterilisation equipment such as gas sterilisation equipment and autoclaves
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work well in a team
- Good interpersonal skills
Inherent Requirements
The successful candidate must be willing to:
- Work shifts, including weekends, public holidays, night duty, and overtime when required
- Perform relief duties according to operational needs
- Lift and push heavy equipment when necessary
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The Sterilisation Operator Production (CSSD) will be responsible for:
- Applying sterilisation processes and techniques effectively
- Promoting and following infection control practices
- Following health and safety regulations
- Decontaminating, packing, and sterilising instruments and linen supplies
- Cleaning, maintaining, and testing sterilisation equipment
- Assisting with washing machines and autoclaves to ensure they remain in good working condition
- Using resources and consumables cost-effectively
- Monitoring, controlling, and maintaining adequate stock levels
- Reporting broken equipment or lost items
- Assisting with investigations related to damaged or missing equipment
