4. Mandatory Application Documents

Missing any of these documents will result in immediate disqualification. You must provide:

  2. Certified copy of your ID.

  3. Certified copy of your Matric Certificate.

  4. Certified copies of academic records and your Degree Certificate.

  5. An Excel Marks Summary: You must create and submit an Excel spreadsheet that lists all your modules, the marks obtained, and the calculated overall average.

5. How to Apply

Applications are processed online. Ensure you have your "Marks Summary" spreadsheet ready before starting.

  1. Online Portal: Access the application link via the Rand Refinery Careers Portal or the direct link provided in the official advert.

  2. Reference Number: Ensure you use Ref: 20005503 in your application.

  3. Submission: Upload all required files in PDF format, except for the mandatory Excel marks summary.

6. Important Advice for 2026

  • The 70% Cut-off: Rand Refinery is very strict about the academic average. If your average is 69%, they are unlikely to move your application forward.

  • The Spreadsheet: Do not ignore the Excel requirement. This is used to verify your analytical accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Corporate Exposure: As a refinery, the legal work involves complex international trade laws and environmental regulations. If you have an interest in Commercial Law or Mining Law, highlight this in your CV.

  • Deadline: With the closing date on 14 March, you have very little time left. Apply immediately to avoid system delays.

7. Why Rand Refinery?

  • Global Reputation: They are the only refinery in Africa accredited by the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA).

  • Niche Experience: You will gain experience in a unique cross-section of law, finance, and industrial operations.

  • Career Foundation: Completing an 18-month stint at an organization of this caliber makes you highly "head-huntable" for corporate legal roles in the future.

Tip: In your CV, emphasize any Leadership roles or Moot Court experience you had at university. It shows the confidence needed to work in a high-pressure commercial environment!
