EWSETA Accredited Skills Programme 2026: Battery-Based Domestic Energy Systems 

Ehlanzeni TVET College, in partnership with GFA Consulting Group and the Energy and Water Sector Education and Training Authority (EWSETA), is offering an accredited 5-month skills

programme for 2026. This program is designed to equip young professionals with technical and entrepreneurial skills in the rapidly growing renewable energy sector.

2. What You Will Learn

This qualification covers both technical installation and business management:

  • Technical Skills: Mounting solar panels, installing battery energy storage systems (BESS), troubleshooting electrical components, and commissioning systems for safe operation.

  • Business Skills: Project management, basic costing and quoting, and professional client service to help you start your own renewable energy business.


3. Minimum Entry Requirements

To be eligible for the 2026 intake, you must:

  • Be a student or former student of Ehlanzeni TVET College.

  • Be between 18 and 35 years old and currently unemployed.

  • Have NOT previously benefited from a SETA-funded Learnership, Internship, or training programme.

  • Academic Criteria:

    • Electrical Infrastructure Construction (EIC) Level 4 with a minimum 75% pass.

    • OR Electrical Engineering N6 with a minimum 65% pass.


4. How to Apply

Applications must be hand-delivered to the Mbombela Campus. No digital submissions are accepted.

    • Comprehensive CV.

    • Certified copies of Qualifications/Academic Records.

  • Solar and Battery Installation Technician.

6. Important Advice

  • Stipend: Successful applicants will receive a monthly stipend for the duration of the 5-month training to assist with expenses.

  • Deadline: The cut-off is strictly 09 March 2026 at 15:00. Ensure your documents are certified and delivered on time.
