The South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) is inviting unemployed graduates to apply for its 12-month Youth Development Internship Programme. The programme is designed to provide hands-on experience in various technical and corporate fields, starting in April 2026.

2. Minimum Requirements

To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Citizenship: Must be a South African citizen.

  • Age: Between 18 and 35 years old.

  • Academic Record: Minimum 80% academic average in your qualification.

  • Experience: Must have no formal work experience in the field of study.

  • Status: Currently unemployed.


3. Available Internship Fields

There are numerous specialized roles available across different departments:

  • Technical/Lab: Chemical & Materials, Food & Health, Electro-technical, Auto, Civil & Mechanical, Secunda Lab.

  • Finance: Financial Strategy, Credit Management, Internal Audit, Supply Chain Management.

  • Corporate: Human Capital, Risk & Legal, Strategy & Media Relations, ICT & Knowledge Management.

  • Operations: Project Management (Closes 5 March), Certification, Facilities, Accreditation.


4. Required Documents Checklist

Your application will be disqualified if you do not submit the following:

  1. Comprehensive CV.

  2. Certified copy of Identity Document (ID).

  3. Certified copies of Qualifications (and likely academic transcripts to prove the 80% average).
