Programme Overview
PRASA is recruiting for three key categories to strengthen public transport infrastructure, ensure railway safety, and provide youth empowerment through skills development. All successful applicants will enter into a 12-month contract designed to offer workplace experience and financial relief to unemployed South Africans.
Available Opportunities (Total 139 Posts)
Learnership Programme (67 Positions): Structured training combining theory with practical workplace experience in rail operations.
General Workers (44 Positions): Hands-on support roles including cleaning stations, basic maintenance, and assisting technical teams.
Security Guards (28 Positions): Protection of railway infrastructure, assets, and passengers. Roles involve patrolling and monitoring access points.
Minimum Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the 2026 intake, applicants must meet the following:
Age: Between 19 and 50 years.
Citizenship: Must be a South African citizen.
Criminal Record: Must have a clear criminal record.
Availability: Must be willing to commit to the full 12-month contract and work shifts (where applicable).
Physical Fitness: Must be physically fit to perform manual labor or security duties.
Key Responsibilities (By Category)
Learnership: Complete training modules, attend assessments, and maintain professional workplace conduct.
General Workers: Maintain cleanliness of facilities, support technical repairs, and handle tools/equipment safely.
