The Eastern Cape Provincial Treasury provides strategic and technical leadership in the management and use of financial resources for the province. The bursary programme aims to build core business skills and improve service delivery within the department.

Fields Covered

Bursaries are awarded for undergraduate studies (NQF level 6 or 7) in the following disciplines:

  • Cost and Management Accounting

  • Economics

  • Financial Accounting

  • Financial Information Systems

  • Information Technology

  • Internal Auditing

  • Supply Chain Management

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Citizenship: Must be a South African citizen.

  • Residency: Must reside within the Eastern Cape province.

  • Education: Completed Matric (NSC) with admission to a Diploma or Degree.

  • Academic Minimums (Matric):

    • English Home Language (Level 5) OR English First Additional Language (Level 4).

    • Mathematics (Level 5) OR Mathematical Literacy (Level 6).

    • Accounting (Level 6).

    • Economics (Level 6).

  • Institution: Must be studying or admitted to study full-time at a public tertiary institution in South Africa.

  • Financial Need: Combined household income must not exceed R367,790 per year.

  • Preference: Given to students living with disabilities.

Required Documents

There is no application form; students must submit the following documents via email:

  1. Application Letter: Quote reference number “ECPT/BURSARIES/2026”.

  2. Identity Document (ID): Certified copy.

  3. Matric Certificate: Certified copy.

  4. Proof of Admission/Registration: For the 2026 academic year.

  5. Proof of Income: Latest payslips (if employed), affidavit (if unemployed), or proof of pension/social grant.

  6. Proof of Residence.

  7. Death Certificate: Of parents (if deceased) plus an affidavit to confirm the guardian.

  8. Proof of Disability: If applicable (stipulate the type of disability in the application letter).
