Role Overview
The Laundry Worker is responsible for the collection, sorting, and distribution of hospital linen, ensuring high standards of cleanliness and inventory management within the support services division.
Key Responsibilities
Linen Handling: Collect soiled linen from wards; sort, count, sluice, record, and pack into linen bags.
Receiving & Packing: Receive clean linen from Dunswart laundry; count, record, and pack onto shelves.
Distribution: Distribute clean linen to various hospital departments.
Maintenance: Ensure all linen rooms in the wards are neatly packed and stock levels are maintained; mend torn linen.
Inventory: Conduct a full inventory of linen twice a year.
General: Perform any laundry-related responsibilities as delegated by the Supervisor.
Minimum Requirements
Education: Minimum Grade 10 or equivalent qualification.
Literacy: Must be able to read and write.
Communication: Good communication and customer care skills.
Soft Skills: Ability to work well in a team and independently; problem-solving skills.
Availability: Must be prepared to work shifts.
Knowledge: Knowledge of laundry services and sewing is beneficial.
