Purpose of the Bursary
The KZN COGTA bursary program aims to support students from the province in obtaining qualifications that align with the department's mandate of improving coordination between government and civil society, as well as delivering high-quality public services.
Fields of Study Covered
Bursaries are awarded for National Diplomas or Bachelor’s Degrees in the following fields:
Anthropology & Law
Auditing & Risk Management
Civil, Electrical, and Land Surveying Engineering
Computer Science & Information Technology
Disaster Management
Geographical Information Systems (Cartography, Geography, Remote Sensing)
Quantity Surveying
Supply Chain Management
Urban and Regional Planning
Valuation
Expenses Covered
The bursary provides comprehensive cover for:
Tuition fees
Prescribed textbooks
Accommodation and Meals
A monthly stipend
Eligibility Requirements
To be considered, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Must be a South African citizen.
Must reside within the KwaZulu-Natal province.
Must be between 18 and 35 years old.
Must have completed Matric.
Must be studying (or intend to study) full-time at a public tertiary institution in KZN (out-of-province studies are only considered if the course is unavailable in KZN).
Candidates living with disabilities are highly encouraged to apply.
Service Contract
Successful candidates must enter a contract for the duration of their qualification.
Upon completion, candidates are required to serve the Department for 2 years in an internship program.
