Purpose of the Role
To provide high-quality bedside care to critically ill patients within the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), supporting professional nurses and the broader multidisciplinary team in a high-acuity environment.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care: Assist with patient admissions/discharges and provide direct bedside care.
Monitoring: Continuously monitor patient conditions and immediately escalate concerns to professional nurses or physicians.
Documentation: Maintain precise and accurate patient records and clinical documentation.
Support & Training: Support and train nursing assistants; participate in continuous in-service education.
Compliance: Adhere to hospital policies, infection prevention and control (IPC) practices, and nursing standards.
Communication: Liaise effectively with doctors, patients, families, and the medical team.
Minimum Requirements
Registration: Current and valid registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as an Enrolled Nurse.
Experience: Proven nursing experience in a clinical setting.
Advantageous: Prior experience in a private hospital or high-care/ICU environment is a strong plus.
Skills: Knowledge of basic Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) practices.
Availability: Willingness to work compulsory shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
