Job Overview
Rainbow Chicken is seeking a skilled Maintenance Handyman to perform maintenance, inspections, servicing, and repairs on agricultural machinery, electrical systems, farm equipment, and infrastructure. The role includes preventative maintenance, fault-finding, plumbing, fencing repairs, and general building maintenance within the farm environment.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent qualification.
- Technical Senior Certificate/N3 will be advantageous.
- Valid Code 8 driver's licence.
- Electrical modules M0-M4 (where applicable).
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a mechanical and electrical maintenance environment.
- Experience with machinery servicing, repairs, and preventative maintenance.
- Agricultural or poultry industry experience will be an advantage.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance.
- Repair mechanical, electrical, and farm equipment faults.
- Maintain generators, compressors, water systems, lighting, motors, fans, and poultry-house equipment.
- Perform plumbing, fencing, and general building maintenance.
- Complete maintenance records and job cards.
- Ensure compliance with safety, biosecurity, and environmental standards.
- Assist with incinerator operation and poultry disposal procedures when required.
Required Skills
- Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
- Preventative maintenance and fault-finding.
- Welding and brazing knowledge.
- Plumbing and pipe-fitting experience.
- Attention to detail and accurate recordkeeping.
- Good communication and time-management skills.
- Strong safety awareness.
