Role Purpose

Plant Operators ensure that power station equipment operates safely and efficiently. They monitor plant performance, carry out routine operational tasks, and support continuous electricity generation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate allocated plant equipment safely and efficiently

  • Monitor plant performance during operations

  • Follow Eskom operating procedures and safety regulations

  • Perform routine operational inspections

  • Report equipment faults or operational issues

  • Guide and oversee learner plant operators

  • Maintain accurate operational records

  • Support supervisors with operational activities

Minimum Requirements

  • Education:

    • NQF Level 1 / ABET Level 4 (internal), OR

    • Grade 12 / N3 with Mathematics & Science

    • Plus: NQF Level 3 National Certificate in Power Plant Auxiliary Systems Operations

  • Experience: At least 1 year as a learner plant operator
