What This Job Is About
You will be appointed as a Trainee Provincial Inspector and undergo training at the Traffic Training College.
If you successfully complete the Traffic Officer’s Diploma within 2 years:
You will be permanently appointed as a Provincial Inspector (Salary Level 6).
You will serve 12 months’ probation.
You must serve at least 12 months within the Road Traffic Inspectorate after qualifying.
If you fail the diploma, your contract ends automatically.

Main Duties After Qualification
You will:
Enforce road traffic and public transport laws
Conduct roadblocks, patrols, and speed checks
Manage accident scenes
Escort abnormal loads
Conduct driver licence tests
Conduct vehicle roadworthy tests
Work shifts (including weekends & public holidays – 24/7 system)
Carry a firearm (after required training)
Minimum Requirements
You must have:
Grade 12 (NQF Level 4)
Valid Code B manual driver’s licence
No criminal record (SAPS clearance required)
Medical certificate (not older than 3 months) proving fitness for strenuous exercise
Be physically fit
Be 35 years or younger on first day of training
Be a South African citizen or Permanent Resident
Be willing to relocate anywhere in KZN after training
