5. Important Advice for 2026
Regional Preference: While open to all, preference is often given to local residents of the Eastern Cape. Ensure your Proof of Residence is ready if requested.
Z83 Signature: An unsigned Z83 is the fastest way to get disqualified. Double-check your signature and the date (ensure it's current).
ITC & Credit Checks: Because you may be handling social grant data or financial systems, SASSA performs credit (ITC) checks on all shortlisted candidates.
Wait Time: If you haven't been contacted within 3 months of the 13 March closing date, please consider your application unsuccessful.
6. Why Apply?
Public Service Exposure: SASSA is one of the most critical government agencies. Experience here is highly valued for future government roles.
Long Duration: Most internships are only 12 months; SASSA's 24-month contract gives you much more stability and time to master your role.
Career Growth: Many interns find permanent roles within the Department of Social Development or other public institutions after completing their term.
Tip: For the WIL (TVET) applications, you must include a letter from your college confirming that you require this workplace experience to obtain your National Diploma!
