2. Available Trades

De Beers is recruiting learners for several critical technical paths:

3. Minimum Requirements

To qualify for this technical training, you must have one of the following:

  • N2 Certificate: Including the relevant trade theory, Mathematics, Engineering Science, and a fourth subject related to the trade.

  • Technical Matric: Grade 12 with Mathematics (not Maths Literacy), Physical Science, and a related technical subject.

  • NCV Level 4: In the relevant engineering field.

  • Attributes: A strong mechanical aptitude, disciplined work ethic, and a commitment to safety.

  • Medical: You must be able to pass a "Fit for Duty" medical assessment for a mining environment.


4. What the Learnership Covers

The programme follows a structured "Institutional and Practical" format:

  • Phase 1-3 Training: Theoretical and practical training at an accredited Technical Training Centre.

  • Workplace Experience: Hands-on experience at Venetia Mine, working under the guidance of qualified artisans.

  • Trade Test: Preparation for and completion of the National Trade Test to become a Certified Artisan (Red Seal).
