UNISA & FASSET Internship Programme 2026 

The University of South Africa (UNISA), in partnership with FASSET, is inviting unemployed UNISA graduates to apply for a 12-month internship programme. These positions are designed to provide practical workplace experience in the Finance and Internal Audit sectors.

2. Available Fields & Qualifications

The 2026 intake is specifically focused on Finance and Audit disciplines:

  • Finance Internships:

    • Areas: Financial Governance, Budget & Cost Management, Student Funding, Revenue/Treasury, Expenditure Management.

    • Required: BCom in Accounting Science, Bachelor of Accounting Sciences in Management Accounting, or Diploma/Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting Science.

  • Internal Audit & Forensic Investigation:

    • Areas: Internal Audit, Forensic Investigation.

    • Required: Degree or Diploma in Internal Auditing or Forensic Auditing.


3. Minimum Requirements

To qualify, you must:

  • Be an unemployed South African citizen aged 35 years or younger.

  • Have completed a UNISA qualification at NQF Level 6 or higher.

  • Have no prior work experience or previous participation in a FASSET-funded internship.

  • Not have been previously appointed at UNISA or any other organisation.

  • Be computer literate (Microsoft Office 365) and have strong communication skills.


4. How to Apply

Applications must be submitted online through the UNISA portal.

  2. Required Documents (PDF Format):

    • Updated CV.

    • One-page motivational letter.

    • Certified copy of South African ID.

    • Certified Matric Certificate.

    • Full Academic Record & Proof of Qualification.

  3. Certification: All certified documents must not be older than three months.

  4. Reference: Ensure you include the correct reference number and your UNISA student number.


5. Important Advice

  • UNISA Graduates Only: This programme is strictly for those who obtained their qualification from UNISA.

  • Disabled Candidates: UNISA specifically encourages students living with disabilities to apply.

  • Separate Applications: If you are interested in more than one field, you must submit a separate application for each.

  • No Response: If you don't hear back within 30 days of the closing date, consider your application unsuccessful.

  • Stipend: The stipend works out to approximately R10,630 per month, which is quite competitive for an internship.
