2. Minimum Requirements

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet the following:

  • Education: Grade 12 (Matric) certificate or equivalent (NQF Level 4).

  • Knowledge: Understanding of telephone etiquette and Batho Pele principles (putting people first).

  • Skills: * Good communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.

    • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

    • Active listening and problem-solving abilities.

    • Ability to handle high call volumes under pressure.


3. Key Responsibilities

  • System Operation: Operating the PABX system and managing all incoming and outgoing calls.

  • Information Services: Solving caller inquiries related to Department of Health services or redirecting them to the correct units.

  • Administration: Maintaining an updated departmental telephone list and managing switchboard equipment.

  • Security: Screening calls and ensuring the safeguarding of government property within the workstation.

  • Customer Focus: Providing a professional and friendly first point of contact for the public and stakeholders.
