1. Available Trade Streams
The programme typically covers the following technical trades:
Diesel Mechanic
Electrician
Fitter and Turner
Boilermaker

Instrumentation Mechanician
2. Minimum Requirements
To be considered for the Exxaro Learnership, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Education: A Minimum of Grade 12 (Matric) with Mathematics and Physical Science (at least 40% or Level 3).
Alternative Education: An N2 Certificate with relevant subjects (Mathematics, Science, and Trade Theory) for the specific trade applied for.
Citizenship: South African citizen.
Health: Must be medically fit to work in a mining environment (Red Ticket standard).
Communication: Must be proficient in English (reading and writing).
3. Key Responsibilities & Training
Structured Learning: Complete institutional training at an accredited training center.
Practical Experience: Undergo supervised on-the-job training at Exxaro’s mining operations.
Assessments: Complete all logbook requirements and progress assessments.
Trade Test: The ultimate goal is to complete the 3–4 year programme and pass the National Trade Test to become a qualified artisan.
4. Required Documentation

Updated Curriculum Vitae (CV).
Certified copy of your Identity Document (ID).
Certified copies of your Matric Certificate or N2/N3 Certificates.
Proof of residence (preference is often given to local communities surrounding the mines).
