The Grassroots Youth Development Bursary Programme, managed by the Masinyusane Development Organization, is a social-impact initiative based in the Eastern Cape. It provides financial and mentorship support to underprivileged youth to help them access quality higher education.

2. Fields of Study Covered

3. Minimum Eligibility Requirements

  • Citizenship: Must be a South African citizen.

  • Age: Must be under 29 years old.

  • Residency: Must reside within the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality or the Sundays River Valley Local Municipality (Eastern Cape).

  • Education: Must have completed Matric.

  • Institution: Must be registered or provisionally accepted at a public tertiary institution (University or TVET/FET College) in South Africa.

  • Financial Status: Total combined household income must be LESS than R350,000 per annum.

  • Parents/Guardians' 3-month Bank Statements.

  • Proof of Address (Municipal account or letter from Ward Councilor).


6. Important Notes

  • Duration: The bursary is awarded for one academic year at a time.

  • Renewal: Students must reapply annually, and funding is subject to academic performance.

  • Mentorship: Successful applicants will be assigned a mentor to assist with their academic journey.
