1. Fields of Study Covered (Engineering)

Bursaries will be awarded for studies within the following fields:

  • Chemical Engineering

  • Electrical Engineering

  • Instrumentation Engineering

  • Mechanical Engineering


2. Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum criteria:

  • Citizenship: Must be a South African citizen.

  • Residency: Must reside in Wentworth, Jacobs, or Bluff areas in the KwaZulu-Natal province.

  • Matric: Must have completed Matric or be currently in Matric.

  • Study Status: Must be studying or intend on studying towards a qualification within one of the Engineering fields listed above.

  • Institution: Must be enrolled or provisionally accepted to study at a recognised and accredited tertiary institution in South Africa.


3. Application Process

Step 1: Obtain Application Form

Download and complete the SAFRIPOL Community Bursary Application Form 2026 (.pdf).

Alternatively, application forms can be collected at Fairvale Secondary School, Umbilo Secondary School, or Wentworth Secondary School.

Step 2: Compile Supporting Documents

Submit clear, certified copies of the following compulsory documentation along with your completed application form:

  • ID document (certified copy).

  • Academic Records:

    • If currently in Matric: Grade 11 Report and Matric latest report (certified copies). Final Matric results must be submitted once received.

    • If completed Matric: Matric certificate (certified copy).

    • If currently studying: Academic transcript (certified copy) and updated fee statement.

  • Proof of enrolment / provisional acceptance at a tertiary institution.

  • Parents or guardians proof of income (latest payslips if employed, affidavit if unemployed, proof of SASSA grant or pension) - certified copies.

  • Testimonial from your high school (if currently in Matric).

  • Motivation Letter to support your application (if currently studying).

  • Proof of residence.

  • Affidavit of declaration of dependency to parent or guardian.
