Moshal Scholarship Program South Africa 2026

The Moshal Scholarship Program is one of the leading bursaries in South Africa, supporting over 1,000 students across South Africa and Israel. The program helps hardworking, determined students complete their university education and uplift their communities.

1. Eligible Fields of Study (Degree Studies)

The Moshal Scholarship offers funding for undergraduate degrees within STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) and Commerce.

2. Eligibility Requirements

Academic Requirements

  • Must be in Matric or have completed Matric.
  • Minimum 70% in English.
  • Minimum 70% in Mathematics.
  • Minimum 70% in Physical Science and/or Accounting.

Financial Requirements

Family income must be R200,000 or less per year (before deductions).

Applicants must study at one of the following universities:

  • University of the Free State (UFS)

Moshal Scholarship Program South Africa 2026

The Moshal Scholarship Program aims to support highly-motivated and tenacious students to complete their university education, enabling them to better their future and that of their communities. The program currently supports approximately 1000 students in South Africa and Israel.

1. Eligible Fields of Study (Degree Studies)

Scholarships are awarded for degrees within STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) and Commerce fields.

2. Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet all the following minimum criteria for the 2026 academic year:

  • Education: Must be in Matric or have completed Matric.

  • Academics: Must have achieved a minimum result of 70% for English, Mathematics, Physical Science and/or Accounting.

  • Financial Need: Family income must be NOT more than R200,000 per annum (before deductions).

  • University: Must be studying or have been accepted to study at one of the following selected South African universities:

    • Nelson Mandela University (NMU)

    • Rhodes University (RU)

    • Stellenbosch University (SUN)

    • University of Cape Town (UCT)

    • University of Free State (UFS)

    • University of Johannesburg (UJ)

    • University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN)

    • University of Pretoria (UP)

    • University of the Western Cape (UWC)

    • University of Witwatersrand (WITS)

4. Application Details

Required Documents (Initial Submission):

  1. Copy of ID document.

  2. Passport copy and study visa copy (if not a South African citizen).

  3. Parents or guardians ID copies.

  4. Declaration / Consent Form signed by parents or guardian (if under 18 years old).

  5. Proof of Income:

    • Proof of all Social Grants (letter or statement), OR

    • Parents or guardians 3 months' bank statements from all of their bank accounts, OR

    • Affidavit stating they do not have a bank account.

  6. Grade 11 November results.

Documents Required for Shortlisted Candidates (Later Submission):

  • Matric final results (if currently in Matric).

  • Latest full university transcript of results (if currently studying).

  • Proof of acceptance/provisional acceptance from your university.

  • NBT Scores (if available).

  • Proof of application for other funding (screenshot).

  • Parents or guardians proof of income (payslips).
