x1245 Examination Assistant and Quality Assurers vacancies at Department of Education
These temporary positions offer valuable work experience in the education sector while ensuring the smooth and accurate administration of South Africa’s examinations.
Applicants must:
- Have a recognised qualification: Senior Certificate, National Senior Certificate, or National Senior Certificate Vocational
- Be a registered student at a tertiary institution, an unemployed graduate, or an unemployed person with at least one tertiary qualification
- Have strong numerical skills (Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy passed at Grade 12 level)
- Be in their second year or higher at a tertiary institution (advantageous)
- Provide details of any previous examination administration experience (if applicable)
Not eligible:
- Persons writing NSC/Senior Certificate/AET exams in 2025
- Persons who have taken the VSP
- Persons employed elsewhere
Examination Assistant Duties (District & Head Offices)
- Receive, check, control, and scan scripts daily
- Pack scripts for marking and ensure correct quantities per subject and session
- Address discrepancies and prepare marking centre files
- Dispatch scripts to marking venues
- Archive and index scripts for future retrieval
Quality Assurer Duties (Marking Centres)
- Receive, control, and distribute scripts to marking teams
- Verify quantities and marksheets per batch
- Check that all questions are marked, totals are accurate, and marks are transferred correctly
- Resolve discrepancies with marking teams
- Reconcile and arrange scripts for archival
